The first modern war, the Civil War is often considered the most significant event in American history. Through much blood, devastation, suffering, and sacrifice, the Union was preserved. Slavery was ended, and political leaders faced the challenge of rebuilding and reuniting a wounded nation.

    Using close reading and research, students will discover the facts and significance of this historic case and apply their knowledge through dramatization.

    Students will examine the Compromise of 1850 and use 21st century skills to evaluate various positions on the proposed legislation.
