XXIII. The land of Walter de Douai

In Wallington Hundred

Walter de Douai holds 2 hides of the king, as he says. But the men of the hundred say that they have never seen the writ or the king’s commissioner who had given him seisin of II. But this they testify, that a certain free man holding this land, and able to go where he would, commended himself into Walter’s hand for his own protection. This land is and was worth 20s.
