• 1. Adolf Hitler is not generally regarded as a champion of the common person, but in his proclamation he appealed directly to the “Volk.” On what did he base his appeal? Why do you think that appeal was effective?
• 2. Throughout the 1920s and up to the time Hitler was appointed chancellor, the fear of Communism was widespread among many Germans. Why do you think this was the case? What perceived threat did Communism hold, according to Hitler?
