  • Bengal today, the nation of Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal
  • Bombay today, Mumbai
  • Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons members of Parliament. At the time of the act, the lords spiritual were bishops and the lords temporal were members of the hereditary peerage; they comprised the House of Lords. “Commons,” representatives of the towns and cities, sat in the House of Commons, as they do today.
  • Punjab Today, the western part lies in the nation of Pakistan; East Punjab is an Indian state.
