  • Bauddhas: followers of the Buddha
  • Gambusvamin: Sudharman’s disciple
  • Gosala: Mahavira’s rival
  • Mahavira: the founder, or “discoverer,” of Jainism
  • Revered One: that is, Mahavira
  • Samsara: literally, “wandering on”; the concept of passing through states of birth, life, death, and rebirth
  • Sramanas: wandering ascetics who renounced the world
  • Sudharman: Mahavira’s disciple
  • Tirthakara: also Tirthankara, one who has achieved enlightenment
