  • beshrew: to curse, usually mildly
  • Mount Sinai: a mountain on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, by tradition the place where God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses
  • seraphims and cherubims: orders of angels
  • slough: any wet, muddy place; typically a stream or a canal in wet marshland or a side canal or inlet
  • Tophet: a place in a valley in ancient Jerusalem where human sacrifices were made
  • wicket-gate: any small opening or door, usually one that is part of a larger gate or door
