Doctrine and Covenants of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

( 1835 )

Audience

Doctrine and Covenants is officially addressed to the entire human population as a witness of God’s activity and desires, yet its true audience consisted almost entirely of LDS members. Many converts and even those being evangelized were also introduced to the work, but the Book of Mormon was the movement’s primary canon in its first several decades. As noted earlier, the work is now considered one of three authoritative works by the LDS community and is a foundational text in their children’s religious education courses.
