  • a’ilu the Assyrian term for the upper class, or free males and females
  • asutu-wife a “wife of the first order,” or first-class wife, compared with a concubine, who had a lower status and fewer privileges
  • eponymy of Sagiu In the Middle Assyrian dating scheme, a date associated with an official, Sagiu, who was connected to the crown and served at some point during the reign of Tiglath-pileser I
  • hupsu-soldier a soldier from the lower classes who was perhaps given land in exchange for service to the state, though it is not certain
  • prestation gift exchange that took place at marriage (for example, dowry and bridewealth)
  • qadiltu a person or a group of lesser temple officials or dedicatees
  • siluhlu-personnel a dependent class of agricultural workers
