Westminster Confession - Milestone Documents

Westminster Confession

( 1646 )

Audience

The audience for the Westminster Confession was one of professional theologians, ministers, and the educated laity. Other documents produced by the Assembly, the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, distilled the Confession’s teachings in a manner appropriate for ordinary unlearned Christians. The Confession continues to be read by theologians and historians, and books interpreting it are popular among some lay Christians, particularly with the revival of Reformed theology in the twenty-first century.
