An Age of Revolutions (1750-1914)

This era was marked by revolutions—political, agricultural, and economic. On the political front, revolutions in America and France offered to the world potent ideas of popular sovereignty, inalienable rights, and nationalism. On the economic front, the Industrial Revolution profoundly altered European society while also affecting societies in Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

    Independence in Latin America

    Using technology, students will compare and analyze documents of the independence movement to determine key principles and influences and assess the course of the movement.

    Capitalism versus Communism

    Students will discover the origins, ideas, and impact of the founding documents of these competing economic philosophies.
