  • “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” - Preamble
  • “The Congress shall have the Power … to regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes.” - Article I, Section 8
  • “The Congress shall have the Power … to make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.” - Article I, Section 8
  • “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government.” - Article IV, Section 4
  • “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.” - Article VI
