  • capital crime a serious crime where life or limb has been taken
  • construed understood to mean; interpreted
  • Counsel an attorney or lawyer
  • disparage to not consider very important; to lessen the meaning of something
  • due process a process of steps where everyone is treated equally and all have a chance to speak
  • enumeration a listing of a number of things
  • Grand Jury a group of people who listen to evidence and decide if enough evidence is present to charge someone with a crime prior to trial
  • infamous crime crime or series of crimes by a person with an evil reputation
  • presentment act of presenting a statement of action to an authority, as in a grand jury to a judge
  • probable cause legal term referring to a police officer's reasonable belief that someone has committed a crime
  • redress a remedy
